Vets Serve

Looking for Ways to Serve Your Community? Consider Team Rubicon.

Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disasters and crises, was founded in 2010 when U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jake Wood was compelled to respond to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti. Unlike other organizations that hesitated, Wood and his small team of seven took immediate action. Their efforts not only provided crucial aid to thousands but also challenged traditional approaches to humanitarian work, setting a new standard for rapid response.

This pivotal mission not only helped countless Haitian earthquake survivors but also established the identity and ethos of Team Rubicon, named in a nod to Julius Caesar’s historic and irreversible crossing of the Rubicon River. This act symbolized the team's unwavering commitment to their cause, marking their own irreversible step into disaster response as they crossed into Haiti.

Now, with a force of over 160,000 volunteers, Team Rubicon remains dedicated to its core mission of assisting disaster-affected communities. Despite the increasing frequency of major disasters, the organization continues to grow, driven by the support of donors, partners, and its dedicated volunteers, known as Greyshirts, who embody the fearless and proactive spirit of the group.

Team Rubicon’s vision is to support humanity and build resiliency for vulnerable communities across the world. Visit Team Rubicon today to find out more.
